Rotra expands activities to Mexico and Ecuador with takeover activities of logistics service provider Simply Orange
Rotra has expanded its air & ocean activities to Mexico and Ecuador with the immediate takeover of all activities of logistics service provider Simply Orange. With a partial takeover of the shares in March 2018, Rotra has been participating in this company for 2 years and as a result both companies have had a shared vision and equal DNA for some time. The activities will be continued under the brand name of Rotra. This acquisition is in line with Rotra’s strategy of international growth and expansion.
Rotra and Simply Orange expect to continue their high quality service with the increasing emphasis on further combining transport flows, expertise and experience whereby access is given to each other's networks. With merging of existing business and volumes Rotra will take maximum advantage of synergy benefits and further improvement of purchasing conditions. As a digital freight forwarder, Rotra has been investing in the development of online platform rotraNext for some years now. With the Rotra branches in Mexico and Ecuador Rotra will also serve its customers and partners with rotraNext.
Family business Rotra
Established in 1909, the Dutch family business Rotra has recently transformed into a digital forwarder working with Air and Ocean offices in the Netherlands and Belgium. Rotra was founded in Doesburg by Hermanus Roelofsen. Four generations have worked or are still working in the family business. In the last decades worldwide forwarding by road and rail, air and sea, warehousing, value added activities and supply chain management have been combined in one flexible organisation. That situation has been built up steadily and carefully, with the result that Rotra is a stable company with a sound financial foundation and a reliable global network of logistic partners.
In 2020, Rotra decided to fully focus on expanding sea and air freight activities as a digital forwarder and to sell the road transport and logistics divisions. With the development of digital platform rotraNext, Rotra has digitized the entire shipping process for worldwide sea and air freight shipments, thereby providing cost and time savings and full transparency in the logistics chain.
